We got another round of chances today. I have updated the Feedback post on the forums. There have been a few since the last post, but none that were very meaningful:

Today’s build added in:

  • Windwalker Monk  Effect #1 Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: -20 -23%
  • Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger   Summons an effigy of Xuen, the White Tiger for 20 sec. Xuen attacks your primary target, and strikes 3 enemies within 10 yards every 1 sec with Tiger Lightning for (28%23% of Attack power) Nature damage.
  • Rushing Jade Wind   Summons a whirling tornado around you, causing [(1) * (9.1728%20% of Attack power)] damage every 0.8 sec to all enemies within 8 yards.
  • Chi Burst      Hurls a torrent of Chi energy up to 40 yds forward, dealing (65.52%46% of Attack power) Nature damage to all enemies, and (67.5675% of Attack power) healing to the Monk and all allies in its path.

What this means

There’s not much to be said about these changes as they’re pretty obvious why they were changed. Obviously Windwalker’s overall damage was a little too high for where Blizzard would like, so our damage aura was decreased. Many other specs had their auras increased or decreased, so its impossible to say how it affects Windwalkers compared to other specs. This change is really not much to worry about as its mostly in the background.

As I’ve said before, Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger was doing too much damage, so its been nerfed. The real difference comes in the fact that Rushing Jade Wind was, pretty significantly, buffed. Previously, Rushing Jade Wind was a damage loss when you’d use it below 3 targets, due to using more resources than its worth. With this change, Rushing Jade Wind becomes a damage gain at 2 targets. This also means that we’d use Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger at 1 target, Rushing Jade Wind at 3 or more targets, and with 2 targets it depends on whether you need the burst or the sustain. This gives Rushing Jade Wind a place and a way to use it, which is exactly what it needed, so to that end, Good Job Blizzard.

It also looks like the cap of 5 on SCK stacks is around to stay, so the fact that this Rushing Jade Wind moves up to needing 19 stacks before you’d drop  Rushing Jade Wind in favor of more SCK is irrelevant.

Finally, although Chi Burst was certainly doing too much damage, making it the default choice for all situations, nerfing the damage component was not enough to fix it. As was pointed out by Kuyama in Discord, because of how strong BoK is, Chi Burst can do no damage in single target, and the 1 Chi it provides would still be better than Chi Wave. This is a combination of the problem that BoK does too much damage, and Chi Burst providing Chi in single target is too strong. A solution to this is, still, to remove the Chi component to Chi Burst in single target, making it require hitting at least 2 targets before it provides Chi.

In my opinion, while these changes do help some of the problems, such as Rushing Jade Wind not really having a place, they do not fix them. BoK still does too much damage, Chi Burst providing chi in single target makes it too strong, Rushing Jade Wind is not a very fun playstyle, and a 5 cap on SCK all but negates the entire mechanic and hinders Windwalker’s AOE abilties.
